Dewey Mid Event

Mid-Event Survey:

1. What are you reading right now? Orphan Black Vol. 1, Winger, and Let's Pretend This Never Happened
2. How many books have you read so far? Just these, haven't finished one yet
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Reading more of Winger
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Just myself and staying focused.
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? I'm just glad I'm getting at least a little reading done :)

Dewey 24 RAT

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
California :)

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I didn't create a stack because whoa reading slump ("stack" above if a very small sample of potential books), but I'd like to maybe read a few graphics I have picked out.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Red vines

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
In keeping with read a thon tradition I didn't sleep well last night, but I'm pretty ok with the fact that I slept in.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I don't really have a clear cut plan? I figured since reading has been difficult lately I'd just let myself grab whatever sounded good at the time, even if that means flitting around more then usual.

Booktubeathon TBR

I'm taking part in my first booktubeathon, my TBR is a little scattered but here are some of my options for the week :)

1. Read a book with blue on the cover -
I'm either going to be finishing up Two Boys Kissing or rereading On the Brightside, I'm now the Girlfriend of a Sex a God.
2. Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name -
The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer, I've made the mistake of forgetting to include an audiobook in the last 2 read a thons I've done, and only have about 6 1/2 hours left in this one.
3. Read someone else’s favorite book -
Amy and Rogers Epic Detour
4. Read the last book you acquired -
Nimona/Saga Vol.1
5. Finish a book without letting go of it -
The Terrible and Wonderful Reasons Why I Run Long Distances
6. Read a book you really want to read -
The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson book 3)
7. Read seven books -
Nimona/Saga Vol.1

Bout of Books RAT

I'm joining Bout of Books weeklong read a thon. I've decided to not make any plans and just see what I feel like reading as I go along, but have a few library books I'd like to finish.

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 11th and runs through Sunday, May 17th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 13 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

ReadingMyLibrary Week 4 Update

So have to admit I hadn't been doing a very good job at reading library books this month, until this past weekend when I took part in the Dewey 24 Hour Read a Thon and was able to finish 5 books, all of which were library books!

So the topic of the week is to talk about how often I visit the library. I happen to have 3 different library systems all within about 30 min. from my house, and I utilize all of them, just some more then others. I probably go to an actual library once or twice a month, but I use the library way more often because I'm kind of addicted with getting kindle books from overdrive from 2 of the branches.

Books finished for challenge:
1. Hold Me Closer by David Levithan (currently $12.78)
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Last Gleaming (currently $10.49)
3. Afterlife with Archie: Escape from Riverdale (currently $14.66)
4. Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (currently $9.18)
5. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (currently $7.99)

Money Saved:  $55.10

Dewey End of Event Meme

End of Event Meme:

  1. Which hour was most daunting for you? Letting myself sleep in (after doing my opening post) was really beneficial, so I didn't struggle at all.
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? I once again really enjoyed continuing my Harry Potter reread, an easy and exciting series to keep you entertained.
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Nope :)
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? I think it was all fine.
  5. How many books did you read? I was able to start and finish 3, and finish 2 I was already reading!

Dewey 24 Hour Read a Thon

(My kindle book "tower", will post actual book tower later)

Opening Meme:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

California, where its actually sprinkling a bit!!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I've been wanting to reread the Harry Potter series for years, and finally started the first one last RAT and it just made my whole day better, so I'm most looking forward to continuing the 2nd book. Also might throw in the 2nd Veronica Mars book at some point today which I'm sure would be another highlight!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Have to admit I didn't plan this part as well as I have the past 2 RATs, but have some yummy poppy seed muffins calling my name, a veggie tray and an unopened shipment from Nature Box. Also a lot of coffee!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I didn't really plan on having a book plan this time, and yet have somehow ended up with my biggest list of possible choices yet. Also I'm really excited that I've finally hit one of these when I'm in a reading groove and hoping that might help me out some!

Possible book choices for today:

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (reread)

Veronica Mars: Mr Kiss and Tell

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief

Designs on You

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 book 8

Afterlife with Archie

Hole Me Closer: The Tiny Cooper Story

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (reread)

random audio

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I've already blown my first plan, which was to actually try and wake up a little later then the start time (not sleeping well the night before has become an annoying tradition for this), but other then that I really liked my strategy from Oct which was to read when I could, and break out audio books when my eyes needed a break.
